October 25, 2015 – There is something wonderful about autumn. Brightly coloured leaves skimming across pathways, crunching underfoot. There is a peaceful solitude to this time of year.
Locations normally full of people during the summer are now quietly devoid of human activity.
Like this spot, in Coal Harbour. We went to the Vancouver Home & Design Show today, and passed through thousands of people leaving the Vancouver Rock & Roll Half Marathon in Stanley Park. It was just wrapping up.
Yet in all that, this quiet little stretch of pathway, just above the seawall and below Jervis Street, was almost empty, except for a woman walking a happy little poodle dressed in denim pants with suspenders, and a red and white striped t-shirt…..the dog…not the woman!
I’ll just never understand that.
The empty benches, the crunching leaves, the cool crisp air, and the solitude, that I understand well.
