October 24, 2015 – Today was work party day down at our Yacht Club. It’s a day when members have the opportunity to put hours into maintenance jobs the Club needs done.
Those who choose to not participate in work parties to the tune of 16 hours per year, eight hours per six month period, are billed at a rate of $25/hr. I can think of better things to do with $400 year, so Kirk and I go out and put in our work hours.
The upside of us both going is that our hours are cumulative, so if we both go together and put in 8 hours each on the same day, we’re done for the year.
Jobs include things like checking electrical circuits, pressure washing the docks, painting inside and out, gardening, servicing carts, building whatever needs to be built, etc.
Luckily it was a rather nice day for late October, so being outdoors wasn’t really a chore, and it’s always a social event at the Club, no matter what one is doing. And on top of that, any day near boats and water is a good day 🙂
Even when you feel wiped at the end of the day.
