September 2nd, 2015 – Slowly but surely handwriting is becoming a lost art.
I thoroughly appreciate good handwriting skills and know a few people who are so skilled, their writing is art. Sadly, cursive penmanship isn’t even taught in school anymore, kids today are more proficient at texting and may never know the joy of a handwritten letter.

it is…they don’t teach cursive in the schools anymore and I have many students that I see daily who say they can’t even read cursive. Nice shot

I am happy to say my kids are in a school that teaches handwriting as part of grade 3 curriculum. My daughter was thrilled to learn handwriting last year.
I’m appalled at my grandson’s handwriting..which isn’t ‘writing’ at all, but oddly shaped printed letters. What a loss! I have always loved handwriting, pens, and now fountain pens. The feel and weight of a pen and the sound of the draw across paper is a thrill for me. Your photo captures the emotion I feel for the pen.
My kids have both been taught penmanship. Less in a regular school but in the traditional program it was big.
Thank you.
What is also interesting is that there is a very solid link between writing pen to paper and recall, a much stronger link than they find with computer note taking.
