August 31, 2015 – It’s been a dark and dreary few days, in a few ways. First it was dark for a couple of days because the windstorm knocked out the power everywhere, and then the rains hit today and drenched the coast with badly needed moisture. A LOT of moisture!!
When the power came on last night around 8:30pm we were overjoyed to not lose the contents of our freezer. When we woke up this morning to find the power out again, we were back to worrying. We had lights and power again a few hours later. Presumably the winds (albeit lighter) and heavy rains brought down some trees and branches that had been damaged but not completely displaced.
The rains today were torrential at times and are forecast to be around most of the week. So much for plans for our week off. Oh well, lots of indoor projects to take care of. One of which was throwing out a number of things in the fridge and heading out to restock a few staples like milk and cream.
In the meantime, Vancouver drivers are typical idiots and seem to have completely forgotten how to drive in the rain after not seeing any to speak of for the past four or five months.
At least the fish in the rivers will be happier 🙂
