June 15, 2015 – We had a trio of Stellar’s Jays that came around the condo on a daily basis. Two really only showed up in the summer months, but one came year round, and on rainy days he would sit on the rail, out of the weather, for hours at a time, mumbling and singing away to himself. It wasn’t until he started his long rainy day stays that I even learned that they could make more than just raucous vocalizations. They can make the sweetest sounds when they want to!
When we moved up the hill we missed our little friends and set about to attract some jays to entertain us. It didn’t take long before one or two started to come around when they learned there were peanuts to be had.
This little fellow isn’t usually around late in the day, but less than an hour ago, at 8:30pm, I looked out the window onto the deck and he was perched on the back of the deck chair peering in the window.
Clearly I am a well trained human!

Jays just look clever. Must be the pointy head!
They are very clever, but you are right…they do look it too
Used to get Whisky Jacks come regularly to our tent camps way back when I did such things.
You tented last summer….
not in one place for 10 days, going out and frolicking through the bushes, counting trees, hanging ribbon, and hopefully getting pid for it all at the end. And also getting camp butt.
Ah, well, no, there wasn’t any of that
