September 21, 2014 – It was all an experiment. Everything I planted was just an experiment. When we moved in last Halloween I had no idea what would grow in the yard. It gets light from all over the place, but there are so many trees that I didn’t know where the light would be when the leaves came in. I also didn’t know what the soil was like (mostly crappy) or what would grow in it.
We added a layer mostly everywhere, and I just stuck things here and there, no real master plan. I had a hunch where the most sun would land, and I planted herbs there, and on a whim, threw a few tomato plants in the ground nearby.
I tried to grow herbs at the condo for years and basically failed miserably. Here is a different story, other than basil I couldn’t kill anything.
But I never thought I’d actually grow a tomato.
But there you go, proof that I have!
So now I am thinking about next year, and how to modify the space a bit, and I’ll certainly think about the tomatoes a bit more, and learn to prune. Because I also had no idea tomatoes could grow to ten feet tall!
That’s going to be the best tasting tomato ever!
