Endangered Species

July 16, 2014 – I’ve been very negligent lately with respect to my photography. I’ve been particularly negligent at working on my 114 photos in 2014 scavenger hunt.

Yesterday Kirk and I agreed to get a little more active and start by going for walks each evening. A friend suggested I take a walk down to the Cable Pool on the Capilano River, and it seemed like an excellent suggestion!

We had a great walk in the cool forest and enjoyed the peace of the canyon. I remembered to bring my camera along and took a few half decent photos.

When we walked down to the hatchery I was surprised to see an old pay phone on the wall.

Remember when these were everywhere?

Now they are almost impossible to find.

Cellular phones have made them almost totally obsolete, except to those who don’t have cellular phones.

I’m glad I took my camera along, because I captured a few other photos that I liked.

It’s funny how something that was so common sort of slips off your radar until you see one again and it triggers one of those "Wow, haven’t seen one of those in ages" reactions.

Makes me sad that your red phone booths are disappearing Mary 🙁
