September 22, 2013 – Have you ever noticed that September seems like the start of the new year, not January. January 1st just seems like a continuation of weather and dark. Whereas September feels like a season of endings and beginnings.
Schools are back in session and everyone is picking up the latest fall fashions, deep rich colours and heavier fabrics prevail.
The weather changes and the air becomes a little more crisp. Trees start to pull the chlorophyl back from their leaves, The birds start to migrate.
We tend to lean towards heavier flavours, heartier foods, and we think about warm fires and blankets and warm drinks.
Oh yes, and of course all of the sports start up again. Hard to forget when even the pub reminds you by having coasters that pop apart to turn the table into a mini football field 🙂
I’m not really a sports fan, but I do love all of those other things that fall brings. I love the feeling that something is coming, and don’t terribly mind the fact that something seems to be ending. It’s a season of change, a season where there is a feeling of pulling back to nestle in, to cozy up and reconnect with friends and loved ones, a time to share stories of the adventures everyone experienced over the summer and talk about the gatherings that will take place in the coming months.
It’s fall.
