February 3, 2013 – Driving down to Seattle for the weekend, we drove in and out of foggy patches along the way. Snapping photos out the window I caught this scene and rather liked it.
And dang if I didn’t miss getting this posted to P52 by an hour and a half. Darned time zone differences! Oh well, it was a good trip and a great weekend.
Friday was my day off and it got the weekend off to a good start when I went to get my hair coloured and walked in to be told I was a guinea pig. Awesome, I love being a guinea pig for a new hair colour! The colour I used to get for 15 years or so was discontinued four years ago and we’ve never been able to find anything that came close or gave the shine of the Botanics. So we keep trying new things, and sometimes have to do a few colour corrections, but it’s just hair and it’s just colour and it’s not worth getting in a knot over. The happy ending was that the colour is as close as we have ever come, it’s fabulous.
Wandering along the street I finally managed to remember to take a photo of this art installation at the Vancouver Public Library. I’ve meant to take a photo of it for a long time.
A long lunch with my old hair salon family members, and then Kirk picked me up and we went out for drinks and dinner before heading to the Stanley Theatre for an Arts Club production of Boeing Boeing. If you want to see a wonderful show, GO SEE IT! It is amazing! We couldn’t stop laughing, and the acting was stellar.
Saturday we headed for Seattle to visit the Boat Show and see if we can make a decision on what boat we are actually going to get. We had one small, and heart-jarring, moment on the freeway on the way down. A pickup ahead of us and two lanes over, also traveling well over 100kph, suddenly lost the ladder out of the bed of the truck and it went skidding across all the lanes and towards us. Kirk managed to swerve around it as it slid across the road, and we watched in shock as the driver stopped for a moment, and then drove away, leaving it in the middle of the I-5 as a frightening hazard for drivers still to come.
We spent a few hours perusing beautiful boats and found ourselves no closer to settling the decision between the Beneteau, the Jeaneau, and the Catalina. We love all three and just can’t seem to make up our minds. Ah well, we have lots of time to make a decision.
Outside the stadium was this rather funny setup of three metal fence barriers that seemed to be protecting a warning cone. Go figure.
A bit of shopping, a few photo ops (like getting a police officer to pose with his Starbucks), dinner at our favourite wine bar, Purple, and we called it a night.
We had a lazy start to Sunday, brunch in Seattle, and then wandered our way home with a few stops in Tukwila, Lynnwood and Tulalip to do a bit of shopping at Southcentre Mall, Alderwood Mall, and the Seattle Outlet Center. A few lacy things at Victoria’s Secret, some fabulous new shoes, a bit of bling for both of us, and dinner with the best Heffeweizen we’ve ever had. Then home.
It was a great weekend.

Yes…it seems as if you do. And they all look happy to do it. 🙂
I’m thinking it’s the cone that needed protection. 🙂

I think it is an art installation meant to confuse you!
Or perhaps the secret entry to a parallel universe. Some kind of wormhole, who knows? 😉
