January, 6, 2013 – Well, that didn’t last long, did it? I chose to not do a 365 this year, and opted for just a 52 week project, but I failed. A Flickr friend nudged me in the direction of a group which challenges its members to photograph 113 things on a list of topics, in 2013. The list is actually rather fun, and open to a lot of interpretation, so I joined. It’s the fun of a challenge, without the drudgery of having to do it daily. The topics can be photographed any time, as many as you want in whatever time period. A checklist, sort of a scavenger hunt.
So I’m game. Number 71 on the list was fire, flame, or heat.
Is there anything better than a fire when it’s miserable out? Fire warms the body, and it warms the psyche. Fire is alive, and mesmerizing in its activity.
When we stop by our neighbourhood pub for a drink we always hope to get the seat by the fire, sometimes, like yesterday, we get lucky.
I come from a family that loved fire. Mom loved a good burn and a visit to our cabin just wasn’t complete without a good bonfire. Our cabin was heated by fire, and whoever got up first in the morning was responsible for starting it. I have known how to start a good fire since I was very young.
Our condo is one of only two in the building without a fireplace, and when we move to a new home later this year, that will be remedied.
#71. Fire, Flame or Heat
