(184/366) Baby Gets a Badly Needed Bath

July 2, 2012 – My motorcycle was so badly in need of a wash. It seems that every time I’ve ridden in the past two months I’ve ended up in a rainstorm, and that hasn’t just been once or twice. And as I had it pointed out again today, it’s making me a better rider every time.

I swore I’d never own a black bike, or any black vehicle for that matter. They are just too much work to keep looking good. And here I am with a black bike, there just wasn’t really a choice though, the other colour option wasn’t very good looking. And so I have a black bike that needs washing after almost every ride. Sigh.

Oh well, as Kirk frequently says to me when I moan about how dirty it always seems to be, “You didn’t buy it to look at it! And you use it, a lot.” That much is true.

On the flip side, I have had a few comments to the effect that it looks show room quality still. That’s nice to hear, and makes the effort worthwhile. Seems like most of the rocks that I’ve taken have been off my head. I really don’t understand people who don’t wear a full face helmet. I have had several occasions where I could have lost an eye had I not had a full face shield. All you need is one rock pinging off your visor between your eyes to fully appreciate the protection. But at least it seems that the bike has dodged most of them.

It was raining again this morning, but after hanging out with friends at Starbucks for almost five (!!where did THAT go!!) hours today, when we got home it was dry enough out to pull it onto the street and give it a good clean and lube.

She really does look pretty when she’s clean.
