Day 323 – Evening Falls

I have been wanting to find where the crows go for years and just never seem to manage to actually DO it. Every evening in the Lower Mainland, thousands of crows stream across the sky towards Burnaby to roost somewhere near Still Creek rd and Willingdon. They congregate in massive numbers for the night, and then disappear come morning. Construction of Costco and the Keg messed things up a bit a few years ago, but they still stream here in great numbers. A news story from a few years back – Will BC’s Crows Still Come Home?

The darkness falls too quickly at this time of year to get a decent photograph of the numbers in the trees and in the sky. Someday I’ll get the shot I’m after.

Fabulous day today. We had considered a motorcycle ride, but wimpy over there decided it was too cold 🙂 so we took a quick run across the border to pick something up, picked up some supplies to do a couple of oil changes on the bikes, stopped in at a motorcycle dealership to let them know we were interested in a very specific bike should one ever come in on trade (a specific model with particular options not in production now for 4 years), went to the Keg in Burnaby for a surprise dinner party for a friend, and then cut out early to go to a Just for Laughs British Comedy tour down at The Centre in Vancouver. Yes, pretty awesome day, complete with sunshine, friends, fun, and laughter. Does it get better?
