Day 166 - Bowing to the Bruins

166/365 (June 15, 2011) – Well, it’s all over, for a few months, and then it all begins again. The Stanley Cup is over, and Vancouver was bested by the Boston Bruins. My hat goes off to them, they played a great series, and Tim Thomas protected that net superbly.

Vancouver did us proud by making it this far, but sadly, this was still not to be our turn.

Congrats to the Bruins.

Now, Vancouver, please don’t destroy the city in a snit fit!

Day 166 - Bowing to the BruinsSo much for that hope…. neanderthals are rioting and trashing the downtown core. Pathetic.

Day 166 - Bowing to the BruinsSorry your team lost.

The riots made the news over here – I guess some folk don’t know that it’s just a game………

Day 166 - Bowing to the BruinsThe riots had nothing to do with the game at all. The first truck to be lit on fire was brought by its owner for that specific purpose, to be burned, and that really started it all. When people arrive at a game with molotov cocktails and hammers in their back pockets, they are there for reasons other than a game. There was going to be a riot regardless of a win or a loss. I know of several people who overheard conversations that included such statements as "I can’t wait to go downtown and wreck stuff" Can’t fight that sort of idiocy.

As for the loss, at the end of the day Boston held it together better than we did, and they deserved the cup. Their goalie was amazing and is such a cool story. Drafted to the NHL at age 30, and at 37 wins the cup. How can you not cheer for him?
