141/365 (May 21, 2011) – Today is the first day of the May long weekend. Guess what the weather is doing? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you.
It’s RAINING!
Am I surprised? Not really. Typically the two weekends you can count on rain happening are the May long weekend and the weekend of the PNE parade (third weekend in August). This is the opening day of boating season, the opening day for camping season, and the day we had planned on a road ride out to Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon.
Our friends are probably huddled in their boats drinking hot toddies. The campers are huddled around smoky fires started with wet wood, under blue tarps. And that ride? No, it didn’t happen, because Kirk generally figures he will rust if he rides in the rain.
So we visited a garden centre out in Surrey and picked up some plants ot fill in the holes left by the waterlogged plants that died over the winter, and some water plants to fill in the holes left by the raccoons.
And I contemplated soup. On a cold, wet day, nothing beats a steaming bowl of soup. And I found a really good one at Fraser’s Bistro. Curried corn chowder. Yum.
So we had three good days. IUt appears that we have finished with Spring and skipped right on to fall.
Oh well, at least I love soup.
