364/365 (December 30, 2010) – I resolve…….nothing really. I hate resolutions. I suppose some people stick them out. But when you don’t manage to carry it out, you feel badly, and then it’s a failure, so why bother.
Well, not totally true. I think the problem is that people make resolutions that are just too darned specific, that’s the problem.
Broader resolutions, like laugh more, be kinder, give more, enjoy life more. Those are good resolutions. But they shouldn’t really be left until the end of the year, they are things we should all strive for every day, year round.
I made a bit of a challenge to myself on January 1st of this year, to take a photo (at least) a day. Tomorrow will see that completed. But I am going to make one small resolution based on this past year.
I resolve to play with film more.

I have to get some 35mm film now that I have three cameras to play with it in. I’ve been shooting semi-infrequently with my Mamiya since May timeframe, but being selective since it is 10 frame rolls. Have fun! Nice detail here too.

Congrats on completing (very nearly!) your 365, not something I’ve dared to commit to. I agree about the resolutuions……..and that laugh more, be kinder etc should be things that we ain for every day.
All the best for 2011, let us hope it’s a good year.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/pennacook/] I’m in the market for a TLR, but I can’t decide which one. The Mamiya is one I’ve looked at a bit, but I’m leaning towards a Minolta Autocord, if I can find one at a reasonable price and in decent shape. I have quite a collection of 110 (a major score on eBay!), 120, 135, and instax film in the freezer. I’m looking forward to playing with it come the New Year.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladyrivermouse/] Thank you David, and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you too. I look forward to more travels through the canals with you. 😉
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/finlap/] Thank you Karen, really, considering the number of photos we all take, a 365 isn’t ‘that’ difficult. Have a wonderful 2011! I look forward to more views of the New Forest and the creatures that reside there.

Well done, Paige! I guess it wasn’t that difficult, but you did have to take a bit of time every day, and often, that’s not easy to do. I have a lovely old Olympus OM1 that I should press back into service. Maybe you’ve inspired me. It would be more fun to have a darkroom, though, something I no longer have equipment for…

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/barefootin/] Thanx Shirley! There were difficult days, but not that many. I could always find the time for the photo, but sometimes the processing had to wait a day or two. Funny you should mention a darkroom. I have been thinking about home developing. I don’t have the space, though I’d love to give it a whirl. My brother used to do some developing and I have a love of B&W. Maybe…maybe…

I couldn’t agree more with your "resolution" ideas. I think we should make resolutions as we go along, no matter the month or day.
I’ve been thinking about film again myself – hmmm….
Best wishes for peace and happiness in 2011 and beyond!
