349/365 (December 15, 2010) – In another life I used to work in an upscale pet/aquarium hobby store. Aside from being in charge of the fish in the shop, my next favourite thing was doing window displays with a co-worker. Friday nights were usually quiet, so we’d regularly tear the store apart in creative moments. Our fun was good for the store, as our displays usually resulted in someone coming in and wanting the cat tree or aquarium that we’d featured. The downside was that we’d have to take the entire window apart to get at the item they wanted, and then we’d have to start over again.
Walking through the mall last night trying to figure out what to get for a couple of family members, this window display made me stop and laugh. For the most part all of our gifts are charitable donations int he names of others, but it’s still nice to have some little ‘thing’ to wrap up and put under the tree. Someone was quite creative, and it is somewhat appropriate at this time of year when everyone is desperately trying to figure out what to put in the box.

LOL! Harris, that was many, many years ago. I haven’t worked in retail in a very long time.

This picture is hysterical. But what really catches my eye is the lighting. You manage to get a glamour or fashion feel to this picture that is completely appropriate for the content!

I agree this is a hoot! I don’t envy anyone who works in retailing – I know from experience just how hard it is….

I remember the pet shop days. Davie and Butte across from Doll and Pennys. You took most of the pets home yourself. Still have the “bird” I hear. Good times…..bad times…..
Doll & Penny’s. Wow, that’s going back. I loved that place, not that I got to go in very often. I worked Saturdays, you and Kirk went there for coffee, I rarely got to play 😉
I didn’t take “most” of the pets home…just a select few (lizard, another lizard, a snake, and yes…”the bird”, which is still terrorizing our lives just shy of 20 years later….. with no end in sight.
LOL! Love it!

Like I said. Good times, bad times!

The person who dressed this window has a seriously good sense of humour.
