75/365 (March 16, 2010) – You might be asking yourself – “What is Oscar?” Well, my answer to that would be – “I’ve been asking myself that same question for over 25 years!”
Oscar is a weird lump of clay made by some long forgotten artist (Phil something-or-other) from Prince George. I think I picked Oscar up at a garage sale when I was a teenager. I also bought a strange pair of clay people salt-and-pepper set, but I’ll introduce you to them another day.
Oscar lived on the stove for nearly 22 years until we redid our kitchen just before Christmas. Unfortunately he just doesn’t fit anymore. But he hasn’t left home in dejection, no, he’s just moved to the dining room table where he draws a little less conversational interest because he’s not quite so obvious. So now, instead of watching us cook, he watches us eat.
Yes, it’s strange, no I don’t have an explanation. But I don’t have a really great explanation for the 30’ish year old bottle of beer in the fridge either. It’s just a stupid attachment to a stupid object. It’s just the way it is, and thankfully there aren’t too many of these oddities around our home.
