I am on a work trip up to the Southern Interior, Lumby to be exact. Where the heck is that? Hang an East at Vernon and drive until you reach a four way stop with a flashing red light. You’ve arrived. Not much here. I suppose it’s quaint, probably lovely in the summer. But when you are looking around at the snow falling on three sides up on the hills and the light is fast disappearing…. well, I suppose it could be worse. It could be raining. I’m sure that’s on the way for tomorrow. My motel is a sad little place, and the advertised wifi seems to work once every twenty minutes or so…for a few seconds at a time.
I decided to fly up to Kelowna and then rent a car rather than drive. Something I would never have considered historically. But the 4runner isn’t up to the drive and I didn’t want to take the MDX on another road trip while we are trying to sell it. Plus, the Coquihalla hasn’t been looking all that friendly these days.
The flight up was a bit like 4×4’ing in a jet. Pretty bumpy and I noticed something interesting on the flight. I wonder when they will stop trying to sell plastic headphones that get used once on planes. Because I wonder who still actually buys them? On the flight I was on this morning, which was almost full, not one sale was made. Now perhaps it was because it was only an hour flight. Or perhaps it is because the vast majority of people travel with a cell phone/ipod that they can take the music they want to hear on. And of course… they have earbuds to go with it. It’s one more bit of plastic junk that I’d like to see disappear.
And that’s about it for my environmental thought today.
Back to work…..
