Sadly, or maybe not, the boat I thought we had…we have lost. With the wedding planning and then the aftermath, things were delayed and the charter company has chartered the boat to someone else as of May 23rd. So we could only have it for three weeks.
Oddly enough, I’m not that upset about it, I had a funny feeling about it (older boat, still rather pricey…) and I’ve since contacted a couple of other companies. One company has said they would charter to us out of Corfu and we would return the vessel to Lefkas. That would be awesome since it would be a one way charter and we would not have to make the haul back up to Corfu. This may work!
So, if we could make it happen, we would fly into Corfu, pick up the charter there. Spend a week around Corfu and then head off into the other Ionian Islands for the next three weeks. We would return the boat to Lefkas and then fly out to Gatwick from there. We wold spend a few days lolling about in Southern England before heading home from either Gatwick or Heathrow.
This could work out nicely…..I think the idea is solid, the price is in what we budgeted even though the Canadain Dollar has had the value kicked out of it…….the boat is the right size…..the person I have been comunicating with seems up front…. the company site has a good feel to it…very professsional (Sailing In Blue)… feeling good about it…starting to think I don’t want to lose this one…..
The area and conditions in the Ionion Islands also sound ideal….a bit more predictable than last time…maybe…
