We walked into Canadian Tire the other day to pick up a $5 gas can….and walked out with a Roomba! I saw these things advertised several years ago, and all I thought at the time was “How can that thing actually work!” And promptly paid it no attention. Then I saw someone walking out of the store with one and something made me go investigate. $100 off…looked interesting. Curiosity got the best of us and we figured that if we didn’t like it, back it would go. Relatively simple plan. So we took Roomba home and plugged it in..A few hours of charging and we couldn’t help it, we had to see what happened when the button was pushed. Little backup sensors beeped and it backed out of its dicking station and proceeded to buzz around the apartment for a couple of hours.
It was so novel that we really just sat there and watched! The cats were fascinated for all of about 5 minutes before the novelty wore off. The bird was terrified and had to be returned to the safety of his cage for his own safety as he kept launching everytime Roomba came near his tree. And since he can’t really fly, he was hitting walls and things with his nose repeatedly. Poor Gizmo.
After Roomba decided the apartment was cleaned to its satisfaction and battery capacity, it wandered around until it found home and docked itself for the nights charging.
Pulling the little dirt bucket out revealed a wealth of cat litter, cat hair, birdseed and other bits that are the bane of our feets existence! Amazing! And it even cleaned under that always missed place…the bed !!
I have officially taken over the task of vacuuming!
I Love Roomba!

Thanks Paige! Maybe I can convince Dave to let me get one now. 🙂
Lol..I’ve been told my ferrets would destroy the Roomba, but I have been seriously considering purchasing one..i heard they’re somewhat intelligent too…
