Yesterday I had two morning site visits to make on the Island, and an afternoon meeting at the Biological Station. Since two others were coming along and they were both from the Station, I opted out of the ferry and one of them did the driving. I love taking the float planes across the Strait, but the morning’s sunrise while waiting for the plane was particularly spectacular through the camera.
Yes, one could see the smoke pushing in again. The weather has been hot the past few days and the winds almost non-existant. That has allowed smoke from fires to the south of us, in Washington and Oregon, to push up and cause a haze in the skies again. There are winds int eh forecast, not high winds, but enough that the smoke should not last as long this time. But it’s a good reminder for those of us on the coast that the fires are still terrorizing people inland, and will continue to do so for some time, until the fall wet sets in.
But it was how the camera dealt with the smoky filter that was stunning. This is basically straight out of camera and mirrored what my iPhone took, just at a higher resolution.
Sometimes I wish my eyes saw the world the way my camera does.
