Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

December 25, 2013 – We took a walk down to the Capilano Suspension Bridge last night, Christmas Eve. We just moved a few weeks ago, and are now just around the corner from the park. After the visit, we decided that we have started a new personal tradition. The lights are fabulous, and it was really interesting to cross the suspension bridge in the dark, with only Christmas  lights to illuminate the surroundings. We could hear the river below, but couldn’t see it. The number of lights is overwhelming and the display really was spectacular.

It was a quiet Christmas, just the two of us. We lazed around this morning, touched base with family and friends far away, had a late breakfast/early brunch, went for an afternoon walk to explore the neighbourhood we’ve moved into but still aren’t familiar with, and then put the smallest turkey we’ve ever cooked into the oven. Leftovers are great, but when there are only two of you to enjoy them, it’s easy to have too much.

And now we are enjoying a fabulous glass of Spanish Garnacha, feeling extremely grateful for where we are in life, feeling so grateful for having each other, and are equally grateful for all of the fabulous friends and family that share our lives.

We are also currently thinking about lighting Mom’s Christmas pudding on fire 😉

Merry Christmas to all of my friends in cyberspace. I hope the season is good to you, and Kirk and I wish you all a healthy and happy 2014.

I'd love to hear from you :)

Well aren’t you glad you didn’t like the Christmas pudding on fire? 🙂

But we did. We poured the brandy over it and took a lighter to it just as Mary suggested. 🙂

If you microwave the brandy for a wee bit, your chances of instantaneous ignition rise exponentially!

Good to know!

Just don’t use too much and nuke it for too long–you’ll get an alarming “WOOF” when your dessert spontaneously combusts!!!!

Did you warm up the brandy first? And was it good? xx

It was amazing, and no, I missed that warm it up bit before we tried. We have lots left, so we’ll make a second attempt at flaming this evening 🙂
