Kryptonite

by The Philosophical Fish

Shoes and bags, these are my kryptonite. I have a hard time resisting a nice leather bag, particularly when they are Fair Trade manufactured and ethically sourced materials. Like these lovelies, found in a little shop called Kasandy | Globally Local, in a mall across the street from where I work.

Everything is Fair Trade manufactured in Africa, predominantly by Maasai, and darn if they don’t have some pretty new leather bags. And I learned something new while in the shop today. I’d noticed that they had a number of blankets and scarves that looked like Scottish tartans, and that the bag I picked up today was lined in a tartan fabric. The woman in the shop told me that the plaid shuka fabric has been traced from the arrival of the Celts to Scotland, then through India, and finally to Africa and the Caribbean.

And that’s a wrap for the last of my photos for the 117 Photos in 2017. Managed that set without too much last minute panic, nice for a change.

Happy New Year All.

Beautiful bags. I have a hard time resisting bags, boots rather than shoes, and earrings! Oh, and baking equipment. Weird mixture of passions.

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/finlap] Not weird at all, I have to restrain my self when in cookware shops too 🙂
