Jittery Scribblings of an Overly Caffeinated Introvert

by The Philosophical Fish

I know I sound like a broken record, but I truly have the best job in the world, and I most certainly work with the most awesome people in the world.

Today I drove an hour and a half, each direction, to attend a meeting for a project I am peripherally involved in.

I knew it would be an interesting meeting because it was about an important stock of fish that has been under conservation and recovery efforts for close to two decades. I’ve been helping on the egg takes and the egg picks for years, but I haven’t ever been involved in the recovery planning process. As of late, I am trying to learn as much as possible about the program and the recovery efforts because the current biologist on the project will probably be retiring in the next year or so and, since we have no other biologist waiting in the wings in any form of succession planning, I  anticipate being involved in a greater capacity. So even though it’s not on my work-plan, I am making the effort to be involved where and wen I can and as appropriate; it’s a bit of a juggle because of all of the other projects I am involved in, but it’s also one of the most rewarding, in large part because of the people involved.

When I arrived at that meeting I was early, and the next person to arrive at the meeting turned around and handed me a gift wrapped item. I asked what it was and, with a huge smile on her face, she said “You know what it is”….

I wasn’t sure I did, until I tore back a bit of the paper, and then I just started laughing because it was such a perfect gift, and yes, I did know what it was because she’d posted a photo on her facebook a week or so ago and tagged me, though I didn’t realize she’d actually bought it for me.

How perfect is this?

How happy am I?

Thanks MB!

What will I write about………

That’s the most unusual journal I have ever seen. What a ripper!
