Day 340 – Down the Tube

340/365 (December 6, 2010) – I’m a big proponent of personal data privacy, so the fact that I went out to the airport yesterday and gave it away (allowed myself to be fingerprinted and have my irises scanned) is completely out of character. But, I also hate excessive lineups and the concept of sitting at the border on a motorcycle in a lineup for an hour or more was enough to finally send me to get a Nexus pass. It’s not that I have anything to hide, it just sort of bugs me that I’m now “in the system”.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago and was approved, just had to go and do the loss of anonymity bit. There are two places in Vancouver to get the scans done. Downtown (very close by), or at the airport. Downtown, next available appointment – December 31st. Airport – the next day.

Guess where I went?
