September 25, 2016 – September 25, 2016 – One of those days where I found myself scrounging for some random object to photograph. A little jar containing a length of heavy ball chain that I use as a pie weight caught my eye and ended up looking like this after I coiled it up on a white dinner plate.
The alternative, which lost the contest for me, was a pile of chickpeas on the same plate. I love hummus and historically I always start with store bought canned chickpeas. With the addition of the pressure canner to my arsenal, my canning has changed a lot of things that we buy now. In addition to chicken/turkey stock, butter chicken, soups, squash, beets, and various sauces and other condiments, I’m thrilled to be canning my own beans for later use in everything from chilis to dips and spreads.
