August 31, 2016 – August is going out, and September is coming in, with dampness. And although it throws a monkey wrench into our plans for tomorrow, it’s ok, we can take the kayaks up to Whistler any weekend, besides, it will get a bit quieter up there after this weekend.
This summer has been more normal for weather than the past two years, but because the last two years were so darned hot and dry, this one does seem a little cool and damp. The lawns are a lot greener, most of the vegetation is a lot happier, it’s just the humans that are a little cranky in some cases. The cooler wetter weather may not be great for summer plans, but the environment likely appreciates it a great deal, it’s not a bad thing.
Remember, we “DO” live in a temperate rainforest, we just have been a little shy in the “rain” part of that equation for the last couple of years.
And really, the PNE is on, and that means that, almost without exception, there will be rain at the end of August.
It’s just a given.
