234/365 (August 22, 2011) – It rained today, for the first time in several weeks. We had such a long, cold, wet, miserable spring and early summer, and, strangely, the rain was refreshing. I know the plants enjoyed the drink.
And the rain seemed somehow fitting today on another front. It was the first day the Cohen Commission hearings were back in session. It was easier to sit inside a federal courtroom when the weather wasn’t nice outside. It was my first time at the hearings, and today’s and tommorow’s sessions are on disease, thus my interest and my presence. I also had an opportunity to say hello to some people I hadn’t seen since my work with the BC Pacific Salmon Forum a few years ago. There are nicer circumstances to meet under, but it was still an interesting day.
But what will be more interesting is seeing what all falls out of this long process. Perhaps some things might finally be laid to rest, but I doubt it.
