Capilano Canyon

A little rain yesterday seemed to freshen the world up and bring out the colour in everything again, it’s been a long time since some water fell from the sky. I know I’ll be moaning about it in a few months when it won’t stop, but right now it’s a welcome change. After a visit to the Coho Festival at Ambleside the heat had us both seeking something cool to do, and Capilano Canyon, only two blocks from home, seemed like a great idea.

The cooler air and moisture from yesterday’s rainfall made for a nice hike in the canyon, but it also made some of the trails slick, particularly the Chinook Trail with its several steep sections, one a long clamber over roots and rocks. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that this wonderland is literally in our backyard.
