31-52-2011: Today your host is...

I was prepping some things out at UBC for a course I am running and when walking in from the street parking (I scooted) I encountered these strange signs near Koerner’s and the Art Building. Took me off guard and then I ralized I was also in close proximity to the UBC First Nations House of Learning. I haven’t had time to figure out the reason for the signs, but at least I know enough to understand they are related to the bands in the Province.

I’m not sure. Much of the First Nations dialects look strange to me when I see them written, perhaps that’s the point….. English was foisted on them when the Europeans arrived, what must the letters have looked like to them?

We all take too much for granted, no matter what our background.

The first line is written right to left (British Columbia) but the rest is written normally. At least I think so. Not sure about the host’s name. How odd
