113, again…what a shock ;)

December 27, 2013 – At least these ones are new uploads to Flickr too. I hate flooding a group, but I also just noticed that I’m not the only one doing a last week panic photo bomb. 😉

_____

Taken out in Steveston area early this year when Kirk and I got out for a fabulous spring motorcycle ride. The clear blue skies and the not yet green trees make for a stark contrast.

Vancouver has interesting art installations all around the city. Some stay where they are more or less permanently, others rotate on a regular basis. I hadn’t noticed this one before, but it seems like a permanent structure and it is just a couple of blocks from my workplace.

Another shot from Tough Mudder. I’m not afraid of heights, but jumping off something this tall into murky water is enough to jar anyone’s nerves.

We made the long drive to Prince George in May. I had sold Mom’s house and it was time to finally say goodbye to her home and sift through her belongings. What was to go, what was to keep. Many tears were shed, although my crazy best friend took it upon herself to get on a plane from the other side of the country and come out to help and lend emotional support. We also said goodbye to Mom’s remains and let her drift down the Fraser River to the Coast.

The last night we spent in her house I took this shot of Kirk. The bed frame was mine as a child, and Mom used it later in life. I have it now, though I haven’t decided what to do with it. I don’t have a room for it, so it may become a garden fixture somehow.

Also in May, the Burrard Yacht Club Sail Past took place. We dressed in our boating blues & whites, and joined friends on their boat. Yacht Clubs have a certain amount of pomp and circumstance, and tradition seems to dictate that boating season is opened with a walk on the docks preceded by a piper. I’m not entirely sure what this has to do with boating, but I love the pipes, so I’ll go with it.

On a ride to Edison, WA for lunch, we stopped at the Longhorn for a chicken club and a Pyramid heff. This vehicle was parked out front. I can feel the love, the affection. Can’t you? 😉

Health care seems like such a logical, smart thing to make universal, and living in a country that has a health care system that anyone can access, makes it seem illogical that anyone would rail against it.

Chocolate and vanilla I guess.

I'm sensing love....

I hate spiders. I really hate spiders. And I hate stumbling into cobwebs. There isn’t much that you will see me react violently to, but cobwebs definitely are on the short list.

I don’t actually think of Mom when I see roses, even though Rose was her middle name. Roses make me think of my Grandma and Grandpa as they had beautiful roses at their orchard. But this one is for Mom.

And last but not least, for photos that I already had on my computer and hadn’t uploaded….

Christmas lights are fabulous, and some people take them to the nines. We recently moved and we are now just around the corner (literally) from the Capilano Suspension Bridge. We have lived down the hill from it for almost 20 years and, until this year, had NO idea they lit the place up the way they do. I suppose we just never drove up Capilano Road at this time of year, but now we pass the most spectacular light show in town every day!

And so that’s the last of the photos that were languishing on my computer and hadn’t been uploaded. Now I am left with a manageable number to find before the year is out. I have twenty images left to photograph to meet the rest of the scavenger hunt challenge list. A few are easy and won’t be difficult, but there are a few that are going to be somewhat challenging to  complete.

Five days left, 20 photos to take. Fingers crossed.
